What is mouse? Three basic types of mice

What is Mouse?

A computer mouse is a handheld hardware input device that controls a cursor in a GUI (graphical user interface) and can move and select texticonsfiles, and folders on your computer.
For desktop computers, the mouse is placed on a flat surface (e.g., mouse pad or desk) in front of your computer. The picture is an example of a desktop computer mouse with two buttons and a wheel.
With the help of mouse it is easy to handle computer operations means we suppose to open a specific file then with the help of computer mouse we place the cursor on file and open it.
The Mouse was a invented by Douglas Engelbart in 1963 while working at XeroxPARC .

Uses of Mouse?

  1. Move the mouse cursor
  2. Open or execute a program
  3. Select
  4. Drag-and-drop
  5. Hover
  6. Scroll
  7. Perform other functions

There are three basic types of mice

Mechanical Mouse:
Has a rubber or metal ball on its underside that can roll all directions. Mechanical sensors within the mouse detect the direction the ball is rolling and move the screen pointer accordingly.

Opto-mechanical Mouse:
Same as a mechanical mouse, but uses optical sensors to detect motion of the ball.

Optical Mouse:
Uses a laser to detect the mouse's movement. You must move the mouse along a special mat with a grid so that the optical mechanism has a frame of reference. optical mice have no mechanical moving parts. They respond more quickly and precisely than mechanical and optomechanical mice,  but they are also more expensive.

Wireless Mouse:

cordless mouse, also called a wireless mouse, is a mouse that connects to a computer without the use of wires. Instead, the mouse uses some manner of wireless technology, like Bluetooth, RF, or infrared radio waves.
